New Delhi. The husband of Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya has been arrested by Dehradun Police from Jhansi, UP. Minister Rekha Arya had filed an FIR against her husband Girdhari Lal Sahu alias Pappu Girdhari in the Cantt police station of Dehradun on 15 October 2026. Rekha Arya had made serious allegations of harassment, criminal conspiracy, conspiracy to murder and corruption against her husband. Taking the matter seriously, SIT was formed. Girdhari Lal Sahu alias Pappu Girdhari was absconding after the FIR was registered.
The police was searching for Girdhari Lal to catch him. Police teams were continuously raiding many places in Uttarakhand and UP. Girdhari Lal Sahu had also filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Uttarakhand High Court to avoid arrest. In his petition, Girdhari Lal had appealed to the court to quash the FIR registered against him and stay the arrest. However, the Uttarakhand High Court, without giving any relief to Girdhari Lal, had rejected his petition on 4 November.
Minister Rekha Arya's health had deteriorated recently due to a dispute with her husband, due to which she had to be admitted to the hospital. The minister's BP had increased significantly. Rekha Arya had also shared an emotional video of herself from the hospital. Let us tell you that Girdhari Lalu Sahu has already been in the news in many serious cases. In 1990, Girdhari Lal Sahu's name had come up as an accused in the murder case of Jain couple in Bareilly. This matter is still going on in the court.
