11th class student drowned when he went to take bath in the canal, had come to his maternal uncle for holidays
A tragic accident took place in Kurukshetra district of Haryana on Sunday, where a Class 11 student, who had gone to take bath in the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, drowned. There was chaos at the spot after the incident. On receiving the information, police and SDRF team immediately arrived and the search operation was started.
According to the information, the student who drowned has been identified as 18-year-old Rohit, who was a resident of Manpur Basoli village in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Rohit had recently come to his maternal uncle’s house in Kurukshetra during summer holidays after passing 10th.

It is being told that Rohit had come to the market with his maternal uncle to buy new clothes. While returning, seeing children bathing in the canal on the way, he also insisted on taking a bath. After this he landed in the canal near Mirzapur bridge. While bathing, he went into deep water and drowned due to the strong current.
Team engaged in search operation
Rohit’s maternal uncle tried to save him, but he could not succeed and Rohit was swept away in the water. Information about the incident was immediately given to the police, after which the SDRF team reached the spot and started the search operation. With the help of divers, many places in the canal were searched, but till late evening no trace of Rohit could be found. The search operation is continuing.
There is deep sorrow in the family after this accident. Family members and local people are present on the banks of the canal and all are hoping to find Rohit.
