When one thinks of an electric car, the first question that comes to mind is—“How far will this car go on a single charge?” In an astonishing answer to the same question, the Lucid Air Grand Touring made its name in the Guinness World Records by traveling a whopping 1,205 km on a single charge. This record was recorded between 5 and 6 July 2025.
For this record, the car beat Silvaplana in Switzerland and St. Moritz area and completed the journey at Munich, Germany. Interestingly, I did not have to stop for charging even once during this entire journey. The campaign featured Umit Sabanci, Kenneth Schofield and Fergal McGrath.

The highlight of this performance is that the Lucid Air Grand Touring has an official WLTP range of around 960 km. But in the record journey, the car covered a distance of 245 km more than that. For this, the car's excellent energy efficiency, route planning and controlled driving became important. The journey included Alpine roads, highways and secondary roads.
Terrain also benefited to some extent behind this record. St. Moritz area is at a higher altitude, so the journey is steep compared to Munich. So, through regenerative braking, some energy could be stored back in the battery. Therefore, this figure may not be considered as a normal daily usage range; Still, it's an impressive test of the performance of a production electric car.

The previous record was 1,045 km and Lucid beat it by a whopping 160 km. This achievement once again highlights the importance of energy efficiency and aerodynamic design alongside battery technology in electric vehicles. So, this journey of 1,205 km is not just a range record; So it's a performance that gives a glimpse of how far future EV technology can go.
