Black salt: quantity is less but difference is big, also helpful in maintaining balance

Black salt is not just a means to enhance taste, but its consumption helps in balancing the body. It helps in getting relief from many diseases of the body, but it is important to know about the correct quantity and method of its consumption.

In Ayurveda, black salt (Sauvarchala Lavan) is considered quite different from normal salt. Black salt has more medicinal properties than white salt, which helps in reducing stomach related diseases. It also maintains the balance of the body. If you feel flatulence, gas formation, constipation or heaviness after eating food, then consumption of black salt eliminates all these problems. It makes digestion easy.

Like everything else, black salt also gives benefits only when it is consumed at the right time and quantity. Consuming black salt in excessive amounts can also be harmful for the body. Black salt is hot in nature and easy to digest. It also controls bile in the body and helps in improving metabolism.

If the stomach is not cleared, then consume a pinch of salt and lukewarm water in the morning on an empty stomach. With this, toxins can be easily removed from the body. However, if you are suffering from high BP, kidney related diseases and bone related diseases then do not consume salt on an empty stomach.

Consumption of black salt also helps in reducing swelling and pain. To get relief from joint pain, you can make a bundle of black salt and sand and apply it. You can also consume black salt to soothe stomach irritation. For this, take buttermilk mixed with roasted cumin and black salt during the day. This will calm down the burning sensation in the stomach and the bile in the body will also remain balanced in summer.
