PM Modi visits Rajasthan, will inaugurate Pachpadra Refinery

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a tour of Rajasthan on Tuesday 21 April. PM Modi will dedicate to the nation India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Balotra at around 11:30 am. On this occasion he will also address a public meeting. PIB issued a press release giving information about the Prime Minister’s visit to Rajasthan.

PIB said that this historic project is an important achievement in India’s energy and petrochemical sector. Developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Government of Rajasthan, this greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex with 9 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) capacity has been set up with an investment of over Rs 79,450 crore.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the complex integrates refining and petrochemical production with a petrochemical capacity of 2.4 million metric tonnes per annum. The refinery has a Nelson Complexity Index of 17.0 and petrochemical production of over 26 per cent, which is in line with global standards of efficiency and sustainability.

The project is expected to play an important role in strengthening India’s energy security, enhancing petrochemical self-reliance and accelerating industrial development.

It will act as a base industry for the development of petrochemical and plastics parks in the region, thereby giving a boost to related industries and supporting sectors. Additionally, the refinery is set to generate significant employment opportunities, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma wrote on social media platform

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state is taking decisive steps towards ‘Petro-State’ with HPCL Rajasthan Refinery. This project, realized with the resolve of the double engine government, will strengthen energy self-reliance and take the state to a new peak of development.
