Ayushmann Khurrana’s Vicky Donor completes 14 years, received National Film Award

Director Shoojit Sircar has given many memorable films in cinema and mostly he has a special identity among the audience for his experimental films. One of these is the film Vicky Donor, released in 2012, which along with humor and entertainment, also gave a deep social message to the audience.

On Monday the film completed 14 years of its release. On this occasion, actor Ayushmann Khurrana refreshed memories through Instagram. He shared a clip of the film on the Stories section. With this he wrote, “Completion of 14 years since the release of the film Vicky Donor.”

This film is also special for Ayushmann and Yami Gautam because this film was the debut film of both of them. Both of them entered Hindi cinema through Vicky Donor. The entertaining and light-hearted comedy-drama based in Delhi did well at the box office. The film won the National Film Award for ‘Best Popular Film’.

The film was liked so much that it was re-released in theaters again on 18 April 2025.

The Hindi romantic comedy film was based on social taboo topics like sperm donation. Annu Kapoor played an important role in this film directed by Shoojit Sircar. The film started an open discussion about sperm donation in India and helped establish it as a mainstream topic.

The film revolves around Vicky Arora (Ayushmann Khurrana), a Punjabi boy from Delhi who becomes a sperm donor at the behest of a doctor (Annu Kapoor). The story takes a turn when he falls in love with a Bengali girl (Yami Gautam) and his past is revealed.
