UCC will be implemented in Bengal if BJP government is formed: Smriti Irani

The war of words between TMC and BJP has intensified in West Bengal. Former Union Minister Smriti Irani, citing the BJP’s resolution letter, said that if the BJP government is formed, the promises made in its manifesto will be fulfilled. He clarified that no one should have any confusion regarding UCC. After the government comes, Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Bengal.

Former Union Minister Smriti Irani, while talking to IANS, took a dig at the failed law and order situation in the TMC government.

He said that Bengal is the only state where judicial officers were taken hostage. Do I need to say anything on this. Which state have you seen in the last decade where judicial officers have been held hostage, where the President of India is present and the administration shows disrespect to him.

Former Union Minister said on Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill that this bill was not for TMC. This bill was for the common Indian women who wanted their political rights and legislatively assured political equality, as now enshrined in the Constitution. This was not a bill for TMC.

He said it is not for him, it is for the country. This is for the common Indian woman. The Parliament of India does not serve the interests of Trinamool, but serves the interests of the people of India.

Former Union Minister took a dig at TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in a press conference regarding women’s reservation.

He accused TMC of betraying the women of Bengal and the country. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to end the 30-year-long struggle and got the Women’s Reservation Act passed in both houses of Parliament in 2023. Talked about ensuring women’s candidature in the upcoming elections, but the opposition did not want women’s political participation to increase.

The former Union Minister said that PM Modi appealed for support from all opposition parties. We thought that no political party or leader would dare to betray the women power of the nation, but the opposition parties stood against women’s reservation.

Smriti Irani said that BJP workers want to give political respect and opportunity to women to become politicians, but TMC is playing a role against the implementation of the women’s reservation system. The women of Bengal and the country will remember this.
