West Bengal Elections 2026 Bjp Likely To Win More Than 110 Out Of 152 Seats In The First Phase
After the first phase of voting in West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a big claim. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can win more than 110 out of 152 seats in the first phase and will be in a position to form the government in the state after the second phase.
Addressing a press conference, Amit Shah said, “BJP’s Bengal unit has made its assessment. Based on this, I can say that out of 152 seats, BJP is likely to win more than 110. Keeping the second phase also in mind, BJP is ready to form the government in Bengal.” He also mentioned the record turnout in the first phase. About 92.9 percent voting was recorded in this phase, which is said to be the highest so far.
Praising the arrangements of the Election Commission, Shah said, “The Election Commission has made very good arrangements to ensure that there is no rigging in the voting process. Forget the old elections, vote for the good future of Bengal and form the BJP government.”

Before the second phase of voting, he appealed to the voters to vote as per their wish without any fear. The second phase of voting in West Bengal is proposed on April 29, while counting of votes will take place on May 4. Responding to the external versus local issue raised by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Shah said that if BJP comes to power, the Chief Minister of the state will be from Bengal.
He said, “I want to tell Didi, the next Chief Minister of Bengal will be someone who was born in Bengal, studied in Bengali medium and can speak Bengali. The only thing is that your nephew will not be there, the Chief Minister will be a BJP worker.”
