Do Your Personal Things In Your Private Space R Ashwin Said On Riyan Parags E Cigarette Case
Former India veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reacted to Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag’s vaping scandal and said that such situations could have been avoided. He emphasized that it cannot be suppressed. During the match between Punjab Kings and RR, Parag was caught on camera vaping inside the dressing room when RR were chasing the target in the second innings. Video of Parag vaping went viral on social media. This raised questions about player discipline and the legality and availability of such devices under Indian law.
During this, veteran bowler Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “I think this is completely a situation which could have been avoided. I want players not to get trapped in such things. I really don’t want this for a young player, and it is a bit sensitive too.”
He said, “Sometimes it happens that it is a personal choice, but your personal choice should be in your personal space. If you do all this in a public place, it can be avoided very easily. That’s all I will say. This is my little advice as an elder brother.”
Ashwin said, “No one can say anything about this. Whatever you do, do it in your personal space, because you are the captain of a franchise. You are probably an inspiration for many cricketers, many youngsters, many young Indians and youngsters around the world. So there is some responsibility also.”
The former Indian spinner said that such incidents cannot be suppressed, if action is not taken, no one will learn anything from it. I have deep sympathy for that little boy, but at the same time, I completely believe that all of these things should and can be avoided.
Following the vaping incident, Parag was fined 25 percent of his match fee and was also given one demerit point. An IPL statement on Thursday said Parag admitted breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which covers ‘conduct that brings the game into disrepute’.
