Wins with record-breaking votes; Sunetra Pawar broke Ajit Dada’s record!

As soon as the counting of votes for the Baramati assembly by-election, which was keeping an eye on not only the state but the entire country, Sunetra Pawar took a big lead from the very beginning. The special thing was that he not only took the lead but also left behind Ajit Pawar’s historic victory record of 2024.

Ajit Pawar had won the 2024 assembly elections by a margin of 1 lakh 1 thousand votes. But in just the 14th round of the by-election, Sunetra Pawar crossed the mark of 1 lakh 21 thousand 855 votes, due to which she broke the previous record of Ajit Pawar. Now the 15th round of counting is going on and a total of 24 rounds are to be held. Everyone is keeping an eye on how many votes Sunetra Pawar gets in the remaining rounds.

Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died suddenly in a plane crash on January 28, 2026, leaving the Baramati assembly seat vacant. For this by-election, Mahayuti made Ajit Pawar’s wife and State Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar its candidate.

In this by-election, a total of 23 candidates were left in the fray after Congress candidate Akash More withdrew his name. The main candidate of any major political party was not included in these. R. of Solapur from the registered political party New Rashtriya Samaj Party. Y. Ghutukade and Satish Kadam of Jat from Hindusthan Janata Party were candidates, while the remaining 21 candidates were independents.

A massive effort was made by Mahayuti to conduct this election unopposed. The main political contest ended after the Congress candidate withdrew his name. In such a situation, now everyone’s eyes are on how big a margin Sunetra Pawar wins.
