Yuzvendra Chahals Vape Smoking Video Sparks Controversy

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed Punjab Kings fast bowler Arshdeep Singh to stop vlogging on social media after Yuzvendra Chahal’s alleged ‘vape smoking video’ during an airplane journey went viral. Teammate Yuzvendra Chahal faced a lot of criticism on social media after his alleged video of him smoking in an airplane went viral, following which this step was taken.

According to the information, a video clip of a travel vlog by Arshdeep Singh went viral on social media, in which viewers claimed that Yuzvendra Chahal appeared in a scene allegedly related to vaping. After the video went viral, debate intensified over players’ behaviour, team protocols and personal activities during official tournaments.

Sources say the BCCI is concerned about the uncontrolled ‘behind-the-scenes’ content being shared by players during the tournament. The board fears that such videos may affect the internal environment of the team, players’ privacy and franchise discipline. For this reason, Arshdeep Singh has reportedly been asked to stop vlogging till the remaining matches of the season.

This entire controversy has once again raised questions over discipline and social media activities within the IPL franchises. It is being told that even before this season, the video of Riyan Parag sitting in the dressing room and vaping had gone viral, after which the board had advised the teams to be cautious about the conduct and public activities of the players.

However, till now neither Arshdeep Singh nor Yuzvendra Chahal has issued any official statement on this matter. There has been no public comment from BCCI either. This controversy that broke out during IPL 2026 is being seen as a new example of the growing conflict between social media, player branding and team discipline.
