BCCI’s new advisory, if rules are violated, punishment will range from fine to ban.
New Delhi. In the 19th season of the Indian Premier League, many controversies were continuously coming to the fore regarding protocol violations by players and franchises. BCCI had also indicated to enforce strictness regarding this. Now BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has issued a new 8-page advisory to all IPL franchises. There are many rules in this which range from the safety of the players to warning the franchise owners.
In the current season of IPL, many players have been seen with their girlfriends in the team hotel or during travel, due to which many questions were being raised. In the new advisory issued by BCCI, the danger of honey trap has been mentioned for the first time. In the advisory from the board, it has been said that in such big tournaments, players and support staff can be targeted, due to which all the franchises need to be very cautious as they may have to face security as well as legal problems.
BCCI has not only issued advisory for the players and people associated with the support staff, but they have also made it clear about the team owners and their officials that they cannot go to the dug out or restricted area in the middle of the match and talk to them, this is completely against the rules. He can meet the players only after the match is over. Now team owners will not be able to contact the players directly during the match, the dressing room and dugout will be completely controlled.
During the IPL, there is a lot of movement of people in whatever hotel the teams stay in, but despite this, the players and support staff had to follow the protocol. At the same time, BCCI has made it clear in the new advisory that now any person who wants to meet any player, no matter what kind of relationship he has with him, will not be allowed to go to the hotel room without the permission of the team manager. Any guest will be allowed to meet in the hotel lobby. BCCI also made it clear from this rule that it is directly related to security and anti-corruption.
According to the new guidelines, if any player or member of the support staff leaves the team hotel, he will have to inform the Security Liaison Officer or the Team Integrity Officer and take prior approval from them. Apart from this, a record of their every movement will also be kept.
When Rajasthan Royals team captain Riyan Parag was seen smoking e-cigarette in the dressing room after a match, the incident gained a lot of attention. Now BCCI has also mentioned this issue in its new advisory, in which under the SOP, it has said that the use of e-cigarettes or all banned substances related to vaping will be completely banned in the dressing room, practice area and team hotel.
