Huge mandate in Assam is a reflection of people’s trust in Prime Minister Modi: Himanta Sarma!
Himanta Biswa Sarma, nominated for the post of Chief Minister of Assam, thanked the people of the state for reposing faith in the BJP-led NDA. He said the government will continue to work for peace, development and prosperity in Assam.
After being unanimously elected as the BJP legislature party leader at the BJP headquarters in Guwahati, Sarma told party workers that the huge mandate reflects the public’s confidence in the development agenda adopted under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
He said that once again we have got public support in the elections. The government has worked with commitment and dedication for the welfare and development of Assam. The public has blessed us to take the state forward.
He said the BJP-led government has transformed Assam over the last several years through development work and good governance.
“We assure the public that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we will continue to work tirelessly for the progress of Assam,” he said.
Sarma is scheduled to take oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for the second consecutive time on May 12 while the BJP will form the government in the state for the third consecutive time.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister and former BJP President J. P. Nadda declared Sarma as the leader of the BJP legislature party after a meeting of newly elected MLAs and NDA allies in Guwahati.
After the BJP legislature party meeting, Sarma met Governor Laxman Acharya and staked claim to form the government.
