Despite Babar’s half-century, Pakistan lags behind Bangladesh in the first innings!

After losing the first test against Bangladesh, Pakistan’s position looks weak in the second test also. Pakistan’s first innings was reduced to 232 runs in the third session of the second day of the second Test being played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan trails Bangladesh by 46 runs on the basis of first innings. Bangladesh had scored 278 runs in the first innings.

Pakistan started the second day with 21 runs without any loss. Abdullah Fazal led his innings with 8 runs and Azaan Awais with 13 runs. Pakistan got its first blow on the score of 22, when Abdullah was caught by Mominul on the ball of Taskin Ahmed after scoring 9 runs. After this the process of falling wickets continued. Captain Shan Masood was out after scoring 21 runs and Salman Agha was out after scoring 21 runs. Both the batsmen could not convert the good start into a big innings.

Former captain Babar Azam was the only batsman from Pakistan who could face the bowlers of Bangladesh. Babar, who batted brilliantly in the Pakistan Super League, maintained his form here too and played an innings of 68 runs on 84 balls. Sajid Khan, who came at number nine, was the second best scorer by scoring 38 runs.

Pakistan’s innings was reduced to 232 runs in 57.4 overs. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Mehdi Hasan Miraj took 2-2 wickets, while Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam took 3-3 wickets.

Pakistan lost the first test by 104 runs while chasing the target of 268 runs. In this test also, Bangladesh has got a lead of 46 runs. If Bangladesh somehow manages to give Pakistan a target of 300 or above, then it may be difficult for Pakistan in the fourth innings.
