Telangana CM Revanth Reddy asks for special session for women’s reservation!
CM Revanth Reddy paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary and said that the India Grand Alliance is ready to support the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.
She said the Modi government at the Center had created hurdles in the implementation of women’s reservation by linking it to delimitation of parliamentary constituencies and demanded that the Women’s Reservation Bill should not be politicized.
The Chief Minister stressed that reservation for women in legislative bodies should be implemented with the inspiration of Rajiv Gandhi, who had introduced quota for women in local bodies for the political empowerment of women.
Describing Rajiv Gandhi as a great leader who sacrificed his life for the country, he recalled the excellent services rendered by the former Prime Minister.
Describing the late leader as a great visionary, he said that it was Rajiv Gandhi who introduced information technology in the country and gave it global recognition.
He said, “Rajiv Gandhi was the person who ushered in the era of technology in the country and led the country on the path of development through liberalization policies.”
CM Revanth Reddy claimed that the ‘people’s government’ in Telangana is following the ideals of Rajiv Gandhi for the empowerment of women.
The Congress leader said that the Gandhi family made many sacrifices for the country.
He also reminded that Sonia Gandhi had taken a bold decision to realize the dream of a separate Telangana state.
He said that Telangana has an unbreakable relationship with the Gandhi family. The relationship between the Gandhi family and the people of Telangana was more than a family relationship. He said that as long as Telangana state exists, people will remember and respect the Gandhi family.
The Chief Minister garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi located near the State Secretariat. State ministers and senior Congress leaders were present in this program.
