DK Shivakumar became the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka, took oath in a grand ceremony!

Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar was sworn in as the 25th Chief Minister of the state on Wednesday. Governor Thawarchandra Gehlot administered him the oath of office and secrecy in a grand ceremony held at the Glass House of the Lok Bhavan complex in Bengaluru.

Amidst the slogans of supporters, D.K. Shivakumar reached the stage and first offered floral tributes to the portrait of Sri Veer Gangadhar Swamiji (Ajjaiah), who he considered his spiritual guru. After this, he took the oath of office and secrecy with a copy of the Constitution in his hand and remembered Veer Gangadhar Ajja.

The swearing-in ceremony started with ‘Vande Mataram’. After this the national anthem was presented by the Karnataka State Police Band and the state song was also played.

Shalini Rajneesh, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, welcomed the guests and dignitaries present at the function. Before the formal program began, Shivakumar honored outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by draping him with a shawl.

Many prominent national and state level leaders were present at the function. These included Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Congress General Secretaries KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala and many senior Congress leaders.

At the beginning of the program, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh sought permission from Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to start the swearing-in ceremony. After the approval of the Governor, the formal process of swearing in started.

With this ceremony a new chapter began in Karnataka politics and D.K. Shivakumar formally took charge of the state. A large number of Congress workers, supporters, constitutional officials and other dignitaries were present at the function.
