Annamalai bids goodbye to BJP; accept resignation
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Naveen met former Tamil Nadu BJP state president K. Annamalai’s resignation from the primary membership of the party has been accepted. BJP’s National General Secretary Arun Singh gave this information. Now everyone will be keeping an eye on what major political decision or announcement Annamalai makes after his resignation.
Annamalai had visited Delhi before his resignation was accepted. During this, he met BJP President Nitin Naveen. After this, he also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed his political future plans. After these meetings, there was speculation that BJP would try to persuade him to keep him in the party, but this did not happen. Now the discussion has intensified in political circles regarding his next step.
Annamalai, a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, joined the BJP in the year 2020. Within a short time, he emerged as a prominent face of the party in Tamil Nadu. As State President from 2021 to 2025, he led several statewide campaigns and created a strong support base among the youth and social media supporters.
After the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections of 2026, speculations about his political future intensified. Despite being among the most popular leaders of the party, he did not contest the assembly elections. Political analysts believe that Annamalai now appears to be taking steps towards moving forward on an independent political path.
Meanwhile, discussions about him forming a new political party have also gained momentum. However, no official announcement has been made by Annamalai in this regard yet.
