Murder of Delhi University professor revealed in 3 days, couple arrested from Bengal
The police has claimed to solve the murder case of an assistant professor of Delhi University in just three days. A couple from West Bengal has been arrested in this sensational case. It is alleged that both of them came to Delhi from Bardhaman, about 1400 kilometers away, and committed this murder due to a property dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Debosmita Paul, who was an assistant professor at Shivaji College. She lived alone in her flat in Satyan Apartment in Vasundhara Enclave in East Delhi. His body was recovered from his flat on Wednesday, which created a stir in the area.
According to the police, the accused couple had “friendly entry” into the deceased’s house, meaning they were already acquainted and entered the house without any suspicion. Investigation has revealed that both the accused were captured in CCTV cameras wearing masks, when they entered the house and were later seen coming out.
Dibosmita Paul’s marriage ended in separation in the year 2022, after which she separated from her husband. Her husband lives in Bengaluru. In the family of the deceased, her sister Devavrati Paul had informed the police about the incident. On Thursday, when he did not get any response after repeated calls, he himself reached the flat and broke the door, where the body was recovered.
Police investigation has also revealed that the flat was locked from outside. Upon reaching inside, Debosmita Paul was found with serious injury marks on her head and the veins in her hands were cut. However, the jewelery and cash kept in the house were found safe, almost ruling out the possibility of robbery.
Preliminary investigation has made it clear that the main reason for the murder could be property dispute. Police said that the accused were reached on the basis of CCTV footage, technical evidence and call details.
Considering the seriousness of the entire matter, a case of murder has been registered and further investigation is going on. The police is now also trying to find out who else could be involved in this conspiracy and what was the real nature of the property dispute.
This case highlights the complexity and well-planned manner of this crime, which has spread not only to the capital Delhi but also to West Bengal, which has surprised even the investigating agencies.
