Israeli army has complete freedom of action in South Lebanon!
According to The Times of Israel, Katz issued a statement saying, “The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deployed in southern Lebanon have the freedom to eliminate any threat to their security and there are no restrictions on them.” His statement has come at a time when preparations are going on in Switzerland for talks between Iran and America, in which the Lebanon-Israel conflict is also said to be one of the major issues.
According to Katz, Israeli troops are still deployed in a security zone, where they are continuing operations against Hezbollah.
“Despite the recently announced ceasefire, the IDF continues to maintain its positions throughout the security zone established to protect northern Israeli settlements,” he said. The Defense Minister made it clear that the Army will not retreat from this security zone.
The statement comes amid regional tensions and diplomatic efforts, with talks between Iran and the US expected to take place in Switzerland. Iran has indicated that the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel will also be an important topic on the agenda of these talks.
Before leaving for Switzerland, US Vice President JD Vance had also said that his priorities also include progress towards ceasefire in Lebanon.
Before Katz, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich had also said something similar. According to the Times of Israel, Smotrich said that until Hezbollah lays down its arms, we will not retreat even a millimeter. This is the stand of the Prime Minister, Defense Minister and I too and we will stick to it. Even if America demands withdrawal, Israel will not back down.
