Program to be organized to spread awareness about Commonwealth Games: PT Usha
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President and Rajya Sabha MP PT Usha has said that we want to organize a fun run before the Asian Games. Its aim is to spread awareness about the Asian Games.
Speaking to IANS PT Usha said, “Before every Asian Games, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) used to organize a fun run for Asian countries. Such an event has not been held in India till now. Maybe we were asked about organizing the event, but due to some reason the event was not held. This time they asked us. The IOA wanted to organize it in India.”
He said, “I spoke to the Kerala Olympic Association. The president of the association agreed to organize it. Our aim behind organizing it is to spread awareness about the Asian Games. It is always a good thing. Around 50 thousand people will participate in it.
Players should know about the Commonwealth Games and its importance. Medals will also be given to 100 participants, so that they can be inspired for the Commonwealth Games. There will also be some cultural programs during this period.”
The IOA President said that OCA officials, people from the organizing committee of Japan are coming. State Governor, Chief Minister, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya are also coming to participate in this program.
PT Usha said, “It is a privilege for me that this event is being organized for the first time in India and in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. As the IOA chief, I am very happy to organize this event. We are getting everyone’s support and I am hopeful that this event will be successful.”
Let us tell you that PT Usha’s home state is Kerala. The Asian Games 2026 is to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
