Naseeruddin Shah inspires Om Puri to go to FTII!

In the world of Indian cinema, there are some relationships which become examples over time, not on screen but in real life. Two such big names are late actor Om Puri and veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. Together they gave a new identity to Indian parallel cinema. Recently, an old video of both of them is being seen very fast on social media, in which Om Puri is seen sharing the story of his early days.

Om Puri, Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah are seen together in this video. During the conversation, Om Puri recalls the struggles of his life and says that many people helped him in different ways in his life but in reality he was raised by his friends.

He said that his parents definitely gave birth to him, but his friends did the work of taking him forward and giving him the right direction. During this, he points towards Naseeruddin Shah and tells how big his contribution has been in his life.

Om Puri said, “When I went for an interview at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune, I did not even have good clothes. In such difficult times, Naseeruddin Shah helped me and gave me one of his shirts to wear.”

He further said, “I can never forget this favor of Naseeruddin Shah. If Naseeruddin Shah had not inspired me to move forward, perhaps I would not have been able to reach here today. He had clearly told me that you will have to go to the Film Institute under any circumstances, whether you have money or not, reach there somehow.”

Om Puri told that the friendship of that era is rarely seen in today’s time, where someone thinks so much for his friend’s career.
