Lieutenant Governor took stock of Amarnath Yatra preparations at Nunwan Base Camp!

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday, along with senior officials, visited the Nunwan base camp of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in South Kashmir. LG Sinha said on Twitter, “Today I visited Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam and took stock of the management of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra with senior officials.
“In the talks, important aspects like movement of pilgrims, security arrangements, accommodation facilities, progress of registration and other logistical requirements required to complete the holy journey without any hassle were discussed.”

The LG said he has directed officials to give priority to the safety and convenience of all pilgrims. Besides, it has also been asked to ensure that every devotee of Baba Barfani is informed about the importance of correct registration on the scheduled dates, so that the waiting time is minimized.

“During the visit, I interacted with the pilgrims and assured them that the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and all departments related to Yatra Management are working continuously to ensure a safe, smooth and hassle-free spiritual journey,” he wrote on Twitter.

More than 20,000 pilgrims have completed the yatra in the last two days since it began on July 3 and have left for their home states.

Officials said that 6,721 pilgrims were included in the fourth batch of Amarnath Ji Yatra. These included 4,576 men, 1,310 women, 22 children, 572 sadhus, 154 sadhvis, 38 foreign men and 49 foreign women. The Baltal-bound convoy comprises 152 vehicles, including 50 buses, 12 medium motor vehicles and 90 light motor vehicles.

The convoy going to Pahalgam had 139 vehicles, which included 84 buses, 25 MMVs and 30 LMVs. The 57-day long yatra will conclude on August 28 with the festivals of Shravan Purnima and Rakshabandhan.

There is a structure made of ice in the cave temple located at an altitude of 3,880 meters. Devotees believe that this ice structure symbolizes the supernatural powers of Lord Shiva.
