Datia by-election ticket controversy, first Narottam supporters then BJP: workers said!
Expressing displeasure over Narottam Mishra not getting a ticket for the Datia by-election, Bharatiya Janata Party district president Raghubir Kushwaha said, “Party workers have been gathering since yesterday. We tried to convince them, but they have only one demand. They say they will step down only when changes are made.”
Lakhwinder Singh, a member of the Sikh community in Dabra, says, “We have known Narottam Mishra since childhood and college days. I have been associated with politics for many years and during this time I have never seen him do anything on the basis of which he should be denied a ticket. He has won elections before and would have won this election from Datia as well. We believe that this was a wrong decision.”
Balwinder Singh, a member of the Sikh community, says, “BJP later first we are Dada’s workers. We believe he would have won the election by a huge margin, but his ticket was withdrawn at the wrong time.”
Harjeet Kaur Balwinder Singh, a two-time BJP mandal vice president and former BJP councilor in Dabra, says, “I was earlier a BJP councilor and now I am working as the mandal vice president. I want to resign because if our leader is not safe in the party, then what should we do? Narottam Mishra is our leader and we want him to be given the ticket. Not giving him the ticket was a wrong decision.”
