Dispute between women over seats in Mumbai local, allegations of spraying pepper spray!
According to the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Central Railway, information was received on Thursday that there was a dispute among the female passengers over the seat in the Ladies First Class coach of N-9 fast local reaching Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from Kalyan.
It is alleged that during the dispute, a female passenger used pepper spray on other female passengers. After receiving the information, when the train reached CSMT at 8:33 am, GRP and RPF personnel jointly checked the coach.
Inquiries revealed that some women passengers travel from Dombivli to Kalyan to ensure a seat and then travel to CSMT in the same train. Because of this, many women passengers boarding the train from Kalyan station are not able to get a seat.
According to railway officials, an argument started over this issue between the women sitting on the seats after doing the Dombivli-Kalyan round trip and the women who started their journey from Kalyan to CSMT, which later turned into a dispute. It is alleged that during the dispute, a female passenger of Dombivali-Kalyan group took out pepper spray from her bag and sprayed it on the female passengers boarding the train from Kalyan.
After the incident, both the complainant woman and the woman who used pepper spray were handed over to GRP, CSMT for further legal action. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
