There should be a complete ban on cow slaughter, cow should get the status of ‘Mother of the Nation’: Gopalanand Saraswati!

Gopalanand Saraswati reiterated the demand for a complete ban on cow slaughter across the country and giving the cow the constitutional status of ‘Mother of the Nation’. He said that for this purpose, ‘Gau Samman Awahan Abhiyan’ is being run, under which signatures are being collected on a large scale from across the country.

Gopalananda Saraswati said while talking to IANS on Saturday that despite completion of 78 years of independence, cow slaughter has not been completely eliminated from India. At present, incidents of cow slaughter in the country are increasing more than before. Strict laws regarding prohibition of cow slaughter should be implemented in all the states and union territories of the country and there should be a complete ban on killing of cows of every age group.

In Indian tradition, cow has been given the status of World Mother and now the time has come to constitutionally declare her as ‘Mother of the Nation’. Along with this, he also demanded formulation of fodder policy, grazing land policy and Panchgavya policy. He claims that this will strengthen India’s agricultural system, the country will move towards health and the path to prosperity will be paved.

Gopalnand Saraswati said that in the first phase of the campaign, 5.25 crore signatures have been submitted to the government. In the second phase, a target has been set to collect 15 crore signatures. If the demands are not met even after this, 20 crore more signatures will be collected in the third phase.

In this way, with the total support of more than 40 crore people, the government will be urged to impose a complete ban on cow slaughter. When crores of citizens will support this demand, then the government should take a decision in this direction.

On the case of theft of donation in Ayodhya Ram temple, Gopalnand Saraswati said that whether theft happens in a temple or a shop, both are crimes. However, he said that Ram temple is the center of faith of crores of people, hence the incident of theft there has hurt the sentiments of the people.

The case should be investigated impartially and the culprits should be given the harshest punishment so that such incidents do not recur in future.
The donations received in Ram Mandir should be used for cow shelters across the country or the Ram Mandir Trust itself should establish a huge cow shelter, where a large number of cow mothers can be protected. If the donated amount is spent in cow service, it will send a positive message to the society and such incidents will also be controlled.

On the statement of Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, in which he described the youth protesting at Jantar Mantar as fearless and mentioned the case of Sharjeel Imam, Gopalnand Saraswati said that if a person is in jail for a long time, there must be some basis behind it. In cases related to national security, many times all the evidence is not made public, but without any basis no one can be kept in jail for so long.

At the same time, on the question of fearlessness of the youth, he said that fearlessness should not be limited only to the youth, but children, elders, society and government, everyone should have the feeling of fearlessness. He said that a person who follows the path of truth and righteousness remains fearless. Only a fearless India can move forward rapidly on the path of development.
