BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar launched a scathing attack on the opposition regarding the ongoing deadlock in Parliament, lathi charge during student protests in Jharkhand, Congress's statements regarding Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), singing of Vande Mataram at the Red Fort on August 15 and the alleged attack on the convoy of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said that Parliament is run on public money, so instead of disrupting the House, all issues should be discussed.
Regarding the ongoing deadlock in Parliament, BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar accused the opposition, especially Congress, of disrupting the proceedings of the House. He said that public money is spent in running the Parliament and hence the proceedings of the House should run smoothly.
The opposition has every right to express its views and ask questions to the government, but it is not appropriate to continuously disrupt the House instead of discussion. The issues on which the opposition wants answers should be discussed within the House.
Accusing the opposition of double standards, the Jagannath government said that when issues of police action or alleged atrocities are raised in other states, Congress and opposition leaders are vocal, but why is their attitude different regarding the action taken with students in Jharkhand.
The issue of beating of students should also be raised in the House and discussed. In a democracy, every MP and political party has the right to express their views, but closing the House is not the solution to any problem.
On the BJP's call for Jharkhand bandh after the lathicharge during the students' protest in Jharkhand, the Jagannath government also said that there should be a protest against the kind of action taken with the students. If there has been assault or use of force on students, it is natural to protest against it in a democratic manner.
In a democracy, everyone has the right to raise any issue and demand answers from the government. The issue of students should be discussed and if any wrong action has been taken then responsibility should be fixed.
The Jagannath government also reacted to the statement of Congress MP Pawan Kheda, in which he reportedly said that BJP's Yuva Morcha workers in Jharkhand have been included in the protest and the RSS will be abolished if the Congress government comes to power.
The people of the country see the work of the Sangh and the popularity of the organization is continuously increasing. Whenever the country faced difficult situations, RSS worked in the national interest. Talking about dismantling the organization is far from reality.
The BJP MP also reacted sharply to Samajwadi Party MP Lal Suman's alleged objection to singing Vande Mataram for the first time at the Red Fort on August 15. Jagannath government said that Vande Mataram is a mantra related to the interest of the country and the freedom movement.
According to him, respecting the symbols and slogans related to the country's independence is part of the national spirit. He also targeted those who are giving statements against it and said that this mantra related to the freedom movement should be respected.
When asked about the alleged attack on the convoy of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Jagannath government denied that the BJP had any connection with it. He said the incident could be the result of a dispute between two factions of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
