The Indian fencing team performed brilliantly on the third day of the Commonwealth Fencing Championships, winning three gold, one silver and one bronze medal in the senior individual events. Dominating the Senior Women's Foil, Senior Men's Epee and Senior Men's Saber events, Team India's impressive performance on the third day took the country's total medal tally to 29, which includes 8 Gold, 7 Silver and 14 Bronze medals.
India made a great start in the senior women's foil category, winning gold and silver medals. Kanagalakshmi displayed precise and controlled play to win the gold medal, while her teammate Joyce Ashita won the silver medal. They took the top two spots on the podium, ahead of England's Georgia Green and Emily Goodchild.
The success continued in the senior men's epee event, where Rajendran Shantimoli Sherjin performed brilliantly to win India's second gold medal of the day. Shergin defeated Kruger Peter of South Africa, who took the silver medal, while Burkhardt Mark of Wales and Losevsky Sergey of South Africa shared the bronze medal.
In the senior men's saber event, Singh Karan Singh won the third gold medal of the day for India by winning the final match against Australia's Shim Yoongi, while Shim Yoongi got the silver medal. Teammate Kumaresan Padma Gisho Nidhi added to India's medal tally by winning a bronze medal along with Nigeria's Akinyosoye Oluwafolayemi.
The Indian team is now focusing on the final matches of foil, epee and saber events. Building on the momentum of the 29 medals won in the first three days, Team India is aiming to maintain its dominance in Lagos and conclude the campaign on a high note.
