Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken information about the attack on former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal in Nanded, Maharashtra. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inquired about the health of Sukhbir Singh Badal during a phone conversation with his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also taken serious cognizance of this incident. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Sukhbir Singh Badal's wife and MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal over phone to know about her well-being. During this, he intimately inquired about the health of Sukhbir Singh Badal and prayed for his complete recovery as soon as possible.
He also gave a clear assurance to Kaur that the culprits of this attack will not be spared under any circumstances. Swift and strictest legal action will be taken against the attackers as soon as possible.
After the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde directly contacted the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nanded and took stock of the situation. He has given clear instructions to the police administration to thoroughly investigate the incident, investigate any security lapse and take strict action against all the accused involved in this act.
At the same time, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took information about the incident from the Superintendent of Police of Nanded. The Chief Minister has directed the police to find out the motive behind the attack and thoroughly investigate the matter.
Maharashtra Home Minister Yogesh Kadam said on Thursday that he has spoken to the Inspector General (IG) regarding the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal in Nanded and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered an investigation into the entire incident.
He said that the attacker has been arrested and the accused was working as a volunteer in the Gurudwara for the last two years. He further said that the accused attacked with a sharp weapon and a policeman was also injured while trying to stop the attack.
The police issued a statement giving the information, in which it was told that Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked by Jaspal Singh in Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. Inspector Santosh Kendre tried to save Badal but he too got injured and both of them suffered injuries on their hands.
Both the injured have been admitted to Yasho Sai Hospital and their condition is said to be stable. Police said that the accused has been arrested. Police have started further legal action against the accused.
After the incident, Nanded Police has tightened security arrangements. The entire matter is being investigated under the supervision of police officers. Detailed medical report is awaited regarding the condition of Sukhbir Singh Badal and the security personnel injured in the attack.
