The Central Government has taken a big step regarding the upcoming census to be held in the country. The government has released a list of 40 questions for the second phase of the census i.e. population counting. The thing to note is that this time the census is going to be historic in many ways, because for the first time in the history of independent India, caste related data will also be collected in it. Not only this, this entire process will be the biggest digital census of the country so far.
The Central Government has released a list of 40 questions for the Census of India 2027 in the country. The Home Ministry issued a notification on Friday, August 14. These questions include the person's name, work, religion, language, number of children, mobile number, Aadhaar, passport number etc. Caste will also be asked during the census. The 10th question in the list of questions is related to caste. In this it will be asked whether the person belongs to SC or ST i.e. Scheduled Caste or Tribe or not. There is no option of Other Backward Classes or General in this.
Where and when will the census start?
The census process will start from September 1 in snowfall areas. In a gazette notification issued earlier this month, it was said that the counting of people in the snowfall areas of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will be done between September 1 and 30. The counting of people in the rest of the country will start next year. The order said, 'To conduct the census, the option of self-enumeration will also be included from August 17 to August 31, just before the door-to-door counting of people begins, i.e. from September 1.
