Japan's Defense Minister Koizumi will come to India, Indo-Pacific cooperation will be strengthened!

Japan is ready to increase defense cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. This is why Japan's Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi will visit two countries this week which are strong allies in the region. After Australia, he will reach India and meet his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh.

GG News Agency has given this information quoting the Defense Ministry of Japan. According to the ministry, Koizumi will meet his counterparts from both countries. Its objective is to strengthen security cooperation including joint development of defense equipment.

Koizumi will reach Canberra, the capital of Australia, on Tuesday. Will discuss bilateral security and defense cooperation with Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles. The main focus of the talks between the two countries will be Australia's plan to acquire Japan's Mogami-class frigates and further strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Defense Ministry of Japan, Koizumi's visit is being considered important in terms of defense relations between the two countries. Japan and Australia are continuously taking steps towards increasing security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

The purchase of Mogami-class warships is an important part of this strategic partnership. The two countries finalized the contract for the construction of the first three ships for the Australian Navy in April.

After this Koizumi will reach India. Here he will have his first official meeting with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. In the talks, based on the summit agreement signed in July, there will be discussion on joint development of drones as well as promotion of defense equipment and technical cooperation for maritime security.

Along with this, the Foreign and Defense Ministers of both the countries will also discuss two-plus-two bilateral security and strategic cooperation to be held in Tokyo later this year. According to the Japanese Defense Ministry, Koizumi will also visit an Indian naval base.

Koizumi is the son of former Prime Minister of Japan Junichiro Koizumi and is also counted among the possible contenders for the post of Prime Minister of Japan in the future. Comprehensive security cooperation and the changing strategic situation in the Indo-Pacific region are also expected to be discussed in the meeting with the Defense Minister.
