Only after talks between the government and the students will it be clear in which direction the movement will go next. Now three rounds of talks have taken place between the government and the students, but no final solution has been found on the demands.
Prem Nayak, who is on hunger strike over the meeting, told IANS that the government had called several times for talks, but circular talks were held. Meanwhile, student leader Ravindra Paswan said, “There are expectations from today's meeting that all our demands should be fulfilled.”
He said that we are firm on our demands. We will continue agitating until our demands are met. He also told that we had received the message of talks through CDO. Today we will go for talks again, but our demands are neutral. We will not compromise on our demands.”
Student leader Ravindra Paswan said, “This is the 24th day of our indefinite strike. Four of our comrades have been on hunger strike for the last 12-13 days. Two comrades are admitted in the hospital and two are present at the protest site.”
Prem Nayak said, “This is the 14th day of my hunger strike and the 24th day of my dharna. Our health is continuously deteriorating. We are not able to sit, walk and sleep. It does not seem that we will be able to survive for much longer.”
He said that the government should be serious because our demands are legitimate. Therefore, the government should take immediate action and fulfill the demands. Nothing is over yet. Till now the movement has been carried out in a Gandhian manner. If you do not ask for their demands then the students may become aggressive in the future and the government will have to suffer the consequences. Government cannot be bigger than the people.
