Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held in 2027. The party on Tuesday appointed national general secretary Vinod Tawde in-charge of Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel has been made co-in-charge of the state.
With these appointments, BJP has taken steps towards strengthening the organization in Uttar Pradesh and sharpening its election strategy. The special focus of the party is on strengthening social and caste equations. Under this, leaders coming from non-Yadav Other Backward Class (OBC) and minority communities from Uttar Pradesh are also being given more representation in the national organization.
Handing over the responsibility of Uttar Pradesh to Vinod Tawde is being considered important. He has extensive experience in organization and election management in several states. The party leadership considers Tawde's organizational ability and better coordination with alliance partners as important for his new responsibility, having handled many important election responsibilities for the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Tawde had worked as the election in-charge of NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in the 2022 presidential elections. During this period, he played an important role in coordinating meetings in various states and establishing coordination with NDA's allies and supporting parties.
After this, in the 2025 Vice Presidential election, he defeated NDA candidate C.P. Took the responsibility of coordinating Radhakrishnan's election campaign. During this time also he coordinated with the coalition partners and supporting parties.
Haryana has also been involved in Tawde's organizational responsibilities. He was made the state in-charge of Haryana in 2020, where he played an important role in strengthening the party organization.
In 2022, he was given the responsibility of Bihar. There he was included among the key strategists of BJP. The party also links Tawde's strategic role to the political developments of 2023, after which the RJD-JDU government was replaced by the NDA government.
Under the organizational guidance of Tawde in Bihar, NDA performed strongly in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. After this, the alliance also registered a big victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
Keeping in view the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, BJP is now busy strengthening its social equation along with the organization. In such a situation, giving the responsibility of state in-charge to Tawde is being considered an important step in terms of the party's upcoming election strategy.
