According to the information that has come to light, heavy rain was starting in Conakry at around 3 am on Sunday morning. Due to this rain, a huge pile of garbage started moving and caused a landslide. The huts built around this garbage depot were buried under the pile of garbage. After the accident, a search and rescue operation has been started on the spot to find the people trapped under the debris, and there is a fear that the death toll in this incident may increase further.
Garbage depot will be closed
Lieutenant Colonel Balde Mamadou Bailo, Sanitation Officer of the Military Engineering Battalion, said that this garbage depot in Dar es Salaam was to be closed on Sunday. Local people living around the garbage depot had already been given notice to vacate the area. After that, many people left their homes and temporary places and moved to other places. However, a large number of people were present in the area when the accident occurred. That is why 22 people have died.
The rest will be evacuated safely
Following the accident, Guinean government minister Dienbou Touré visited the site. On this occasion, he said, 'All the families living in this area will be safely shifted to other places. The administration is giving priority to the safety of the people of the area, and the remaining families will be shifted to a safer place.
