The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the rankings of Test cricketers on Wednesday. In the latest ranking of bowlers, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has secured the first position, leaving behind Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
In the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh, Mitchell Starc took 12 wickets and was the player of the series. Due to this performance, Starc has jumped 2 places to the first position in the latest ICC rankings for Test bowlers.
Jasprit Bumrah is not part of India's 2-Test series against Sri Lanka due to injury. This has affected his ranking. He has slipped one place to second place.
New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry has lost one place. He has come in third place. Australia captain Pat Cummins has gained one place. He has come to fourth place.
South Africa's Marco Jansen is fifth with a loss of one place, South Africa's Kagiso Rabada is sixth with a gain of one place, Australia's Scott Boland is seventh with a loss of one place. Pakistan's Noman Ali has moved up to eighth position, Australia's Josh Hazlewood has moved up to ninth position and Australia's Nathan Lyon has moved up two places to tenth position.
England's fast bowlers Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue, who performed brilliantly in the first Test against Pakistan, have benefited. Robinson has jumped 15 places to 11th and Tang has jumped 16 places to 17th.
If we look at the ranking of Test batsmen, there is no change in the top five. England's Harry Brook is first, England's Joe Root is second, Australia's Steve Smith is third, Australia's Travis Head is fourth and South Africa's Temba Bavuma is fifth.
India's Ravindra Jadeja has climbed two places to sixth, Rishabh Pant has jumped six places to seventh, Shubman Gill is eighth, New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell has jumped three places to ninth and Pakistan's Babar Azam is tenth.
