Threats to Kashmiri Pandit employees, will not let the fear of 90s return!

Concerns about security have once again increased after Kashmiri Pandit employees working in the Kashmir Valley under the Prime Minister's Package received threatening letters from the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. In these threats, it has come to light that the identity of the employees, phone numbers, photographs and even information related to vehicles have been mentioned.

A person belonging to the Kashmiri Pandit community termed this as a serious challenge for the security agencies and said that such letters being received continuously are creating an atmosphere of fear. But, the fear of the 90s will not be allowed to return again.

Speaking to IANS, a person from the Kashmiri Pandit community said that this is not the first threat. A threat was issued in the first week of August, followed by a threat letter on 23rd August and again on 25th August. It is a matter of concern that such letters appear again and again in the same month.

Especially when these letters are said to contain information like name, mobile number, photographs and vehicle number and colour. The challenge before the security agencies is to find out how so much personal information is reaching the threat actors?

He said that due to the atmosphere of terror and violence in the 1990s, a large number of Kashmiri Pandits had to leave the valley. The memories of that period are still present in the minds of the people of the community. In such a situation, concern naturally increases when the employees who have returned to the valley for employment receive threats.

Referring to the Kashmiri Pandit employees working in the valley under the Prime Minister's Package, he said that if the government is not able to provide adequate security to these employees, then questions will also be raised regarding the comprehensive return and rehabilitation of the community in the valley in future.

He also reacted to the threat letters accusing Kashmiri Pandit employees of working on the agenda of RSS and BJP. He said that the people working in the valley have not gone under any political agenda. They have gone there to seek employment and support their families.

He said that his faith in the country and pride in being an Indian should not be linked to any political organization. They are ready to do anything for their country and the country is paramount for them.

Putting political or ideological labels on people by threatening organizations is also part of the strategy to create fear. Kashmiri Pandits have faced difficult situations before and now they are not going to back down just because of threats.

Meanwhile, on the comments allegedly made about Kashmiri Pandits in the latest episode of comedian Samay Raina's show 'India's Got Latent 2', he said that for a long time, political parties have been accused of using the names of Kashmiri Pandits.

But now people associated with social media and YouTube are also commenting about the name of the community and its displacement. It is easy to comment on an incident from outside, but it is not easy to understand the pain of a person who has left his home.

When families left the valley in the 1990s, many did not even have a permanent roof to live on or adequate economic resources. They had to start life in difficult circumstances in different states.

He said that these families educated their children despite all the difficulties. Today, the next generation of the same families have reached important positions as doctors, engineers and in big companies. This struggle and hard work is part of the entire story of the community, which is not appropriate to sum up in a joke or light comment. If anyone has made objectionable remarks regarding the suffering of the community, he should consider his words and apologize.

To explain the pain of displacement, he said that even if a bird's nest is broken, it becomes restless, whereas Kashmiri Pandits have suffered the pain of being away from their homes, property and roots.
