India is ready to help in the war between Russia and Ukraine that has been going on for more than four years. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said these things in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The Foreign Minister is on a visit to Kyiv these days. Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to Ukraine and Poland from September 3 to 5. This is his first visit to Kiev since Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine. During his visit, he is holding bilateral talks with Sbiha and Poland's Deputy Prime Minister Rodosław Sikorski.
The visit comes at a time when Indian sailors have been killed and injured during the recent tensions between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea. According to news agency Reuters, Jaishankar said in Kiev on Thursday that India is ready to help to end the ongoing war in Ukraine. Speaking to reporters along with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha, Jaishankar said, “If India can help in any way, we are ready.”
He also said that the attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea were also discussed between the two ministers.
Here, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine expressed hope that the war will end soon and said that he hopes that there will be a new momentum in peace efforts to end Russia's war in Ukraine. Speaking to journalists, Andriy Sibiha said, “I believe that with the return of this active round of political and diplomatic dialogue in many capitals around the world, there will now be a new momentum in peace efforts.”
Regarding Foreign Minister Jaishankar's visit to Ukraine, the Ministry of External Affairs had said that he will hold bilateral talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sibiha and Poland's Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. The official statement also said, “The visit is aimed at improving bilateral relations. It will also provide an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments and issues of mutual interest.”
