Six people died under suspicious circumstances in Banda of Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday night. Since the condition of five people is critical, they have been referred to Bundelkhand Medical College (BMC) located in Sagar. Drinking poisonous liquor is suspected to be the cause of the incident. However, confirmation can be done only after post mortem report and investigation.
According to the information, about a dozen people were admitted to Banda Civil Hospital when their health deteriorated in the night. Six people died during treatment. The post-mortem of the dead bodies is being conducted at Banda Hospital. Five patients in critical condition have been sent to BMC Sagar for treatment.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Collector Pratibha Pal and Superintendent of Police Anurag Sujania and senior administration and police officials reached Banda. The officials reached the hospital, took information about the situation and started investigating the matter. Additional police force has been deployed in Banda to maintain law and order.

According to the police, the deceased include Golu alias Chaman Lodhi (45), resident of Googra Khurd, Digvijay Lodhi (28), resident of Nauraj, Kartar Singh Lodhi (30), resident of Nauraj, Ujiyar Singh Lodhi (56), resident of Googra Khurd, Roshan Lodhi (30), resident of Patan police station Vinayak and Rajendra Lodhi (32), resident of Nauraj-Googra. Information has also come to light that Golu alias Chaman was already suffering from cancer.

Harnam Rai (42), resident of Chauka, Uttam Natthu Nayak (42), resident of Dalpatpur, Mangal Rajak (40), resident of Gugra Khurd, Param Adivasi, resident of Hinauta and Dhansingh Adivasi (30), resident of Hinauta have been referred to BMC Sagar in critical condition. The reasons for the incident are being investigated by the administration and police. Investigation is also being done on the possibility of poisonous liquor.
