Senior social worker and prominent face of the anti-corruption movement Anna Hazare was discharged from Bombay Hospital on Thursday. He was admitted to the hospital about 10 days ago after complaining of urinary infection. After being discharged from the hospital, Anna Hazare said that his only aim in life is to serve the people till his last breath.
Speaking to reporters, 90-year-old Anna Hazare said, “My health is fine now. My health had deteriorated a bit, but now I am better than before. I am 90 years old and I want to complete 100 years.”
He said, “Till date, I have served the people and the country till the age of 90. Even now I want to continue serving till the age of 100. Service means selfless work. Work done selflessly is like worshiping God. Worship is not done only in the temple, serving the public is true devotion to God.”
Anna Hazare said, “As long as I am alive, I want to serve the people. I have dedicated my entire life to service. I am not worried about my bank balance. Despite getting the benefits of the schemes, I have not kept any money for myself. For me, service to the people is not my biggest aim.”
At the same time, Dr. Gautam Bhansali, doctor of Bombay Hospital, said that Anna Hazare was earlier admitted to a hospital in Shirur due to complaint of viral fever and diarrhea, where he was treated.
“He started having urinary problems due to the viral illness and severe dehydration. His creatinine level had increased significantly, which led to urinary infection. Due to which he had to be admitted to Bombay Hospital for further treatment,” he said.
After the news of Anna Hazare being admitted to the hospital, his supporters and well-wishers across the country wished for his speedy recovery.
Anna Hazare is counted among the country's leading social reformers and leaders of the anti-corruption movement. He developed his village Ralegan Siddhi in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra as a model village through campaigns like water conservation, afforestation, rural self-reliance and de-addiction.
