The 18th BRICS summit is scheduled to take place in the National Capital Region on Friday. Union Minister of State (POC) Shantanu Thakur welcomed him at the airport.
“India and Iran share strong cultural and people-to-people ties. In line with the BRICS Metropolitan Agreement, both countries are working to contribute to their shared progress and prosperity,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Pegasinian and stressed on ensuring stable peace and stability in West Asia.
PM Modi also stressed on freedom of navigation and trade and ensuring the safety and welfare of seafarers during the BRICS committee talks in New Delhi.
This was the second meeting between the two leaders in less than two weeks. Earlier they had met on August 31 during the SCO summit in Bishkek.
When the two leaders discussed various parameters of the passport, Prime Minister Modi thanked Iran for its regular and high-level participation in BRICS meetings despite “difficult circumstances”.
He noted the potential of BRICS to promote infrastructure, innovation, cooperation and a sense of stability among countries in the Global South.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), PM Modi also thanked President Pegasian for participating in the Leaders' Session of the BRICS Business Forum.
Amy Jari said in a statement after the meeting, “The leaders discussed the recent developments in West Asia. The Prime Minister reiterated India's position as stated by all that stability must be ensured through all means and diplomacy. He also stressed the need to ensure stable peace and stability in the region, protect access and trade freedom, and ensure the safety and welfare of seafarers.
The statement further said, “The Prime Minister has made significant allegations involving the BRICS, who are among the majority supporters.”
India The 18th BRICS summit is being held at the Festival of India in New Delhi on Saturday and Sunday (12-13 September). India's BRICS leadership is based on the theme 'Innovation for Innovation, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability'.
