PM Modi said, “There are a lot of responsibilities on the shoulders of our mothers and sisters at home. Amidst many small and big decisions, a woman takes care of the family in every way and when she has less to worry about essential expenses, her self-confidence increases further. Annapurna Yojana is one such important effort to strengthen the self-confidence of the women of Bengal.”
The Prime Minister said that every month a certain amount will be deposited in the bank accounts of the sisters of Bengal, for which they will not have to tell anyone. He said that this is a great support for him.
PM Modi said, “Today, the fourth installment of Annapurna Yojana is reaching the accounts of about 1.5 crore sisters, i.e. Rs 3,000 every month. For a mother, this can be the expense of her child's education. For a sister, it can be the support to buy medicine or any necessary household item. Our thinking is that the women of Bengal should have the power to take decisions and also have the courage to move forward.”
PM Modi said that the government's aim is that not even a single eligible woman should be deprived of the benefits of Annapurna Yojana and work is being done rapidly for this. “Work on Annapurna Yojana started within a few days of the government being formed. Today many women are getting financial assistance directly in their bank accounts. There is no middleman and no 'cut money',” he said.
He said that it has been the priority of the BJP government to solve every problem related to the life cycle of mothers, sisters and daughters. He said, “In order to ensure that the child gets nutritious food during pregnancy, we started the Matru Vandana Yojana and started sending money into the accounts of mothers. To ensure that the girl child is not aborted in the womb, we started the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana.”
The Prime Minister said, “When the daughter grows up and starts going to school, crores of toilets were built so that she does not leave the school due to lack of toilet. To ensure that the daughter's education continues, she gave so much interest in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. The doors of Sainik schools were opened for the daughter. To enable the daughter to start her own work, Mudra Yojana was started without interest.”
According to the information, on the 76th birthday of PM Modi, the West Bengal government has sent financial assistance of Rs 3000 through DBT to the bank accounts of eligible women under Annapurna Scheme. Under the Annapurna Scheme of the West Bengal Government, women aged between 25 to 60 years who are permanent residents of West Bengal are given financial assistance of Rs 3,000 every month directly into their bank accounts.
