Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray has expressed grief over the death of two people, including 8-year-old girl Ragini, due to electrocution near Lalbagh Mahaganpati Pandal in Mumbai. On behalf of Aditya Thackeray, it was written on the social media platform 'X', “The incident of electrocution in Kal Chowki Mahaganpati Mandap area of ​​Mumbai is very sad.

My deepest condolences to the 8 year old girl and other devotees who lost their lives in this accident! May God give his family the strength to bear this loss. I wish for the speedy recovery of the devotees injured in the accident.”

A woman admitted to Global Hospital also died of her injuries, officials said. According to initial information received from the fire brigade, the incident took place at 2 pm on Sunday, when devotees were present near the pandal. According to reports, two boys and three girls aged between 8 and 20 years received electric shock and suffered burn injuries.

After the incident, all five victims were taken to Masina Hospital in Byculla for treatment. Doctors declared 8-year-old girl Ragini Ghanshyam Yadav dead on reaching the hospital. Kiran Akbar Naik (19), Tanvi Narsh Hande (19), Sahil Sandeep Tare (19) and Ruhi Singh (12) were undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.

The condition of one of the injured girls was said to be critical and she was shifted to Global Hospital in Parel for further treatment. The remaining three injured victims are being treated at Masina Hospital and have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where their condition remains critical.

Speaking to IANS, Kismati Yadav, aunt of 8-year-old girl Ragini, said, “We came here at 2 in the night. We stood in line on the road at 2:15 in the night.

Due to the crowd, we stopped on the side with the girl near a shop next to the pavilion. As soon as we stood near the shop, the crowd increased further. The shopkeeper had put a tarpaulin in front, which was filled with water. When the crowd hit the tarpaulin, the current spread. Looks like there was already a current in the water. Our daughter lost her life.”
