He said, “I have come to Assam 40 times in the last 5 years. But today it is a great honor for me to stand among you all on this beautiful land.”
Jeet Adani said, “I am confident that in the coming years, Assam will not only generate energy for its own needs, but will also become a big energy hub and will provide energy to the security of the entire country. You can say that Assam has the potential to become the 'Battery of India'.”
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for creating an environment that has promoted economic growth, infrastructure development and business opportunities across the state.
Jeet Adani said that Assam is now not only known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage, but is also fast becoming a center of investment, industry and large-scale development projects.
Talking about Adani Group's journey in Assam, Jeet Adani said that the company initially came with the aim of contributing to the development of the state, but soon they saw opportunities for expansion in many sectors. He praised Chief Minister Sarma's working style and said that his focus is on speedy completion and implementation of projects.
He said, “Last year at the 'Rising Northeast Global Investors Summit', our Group Chairman Gautam Adani had announced that the Adani Group will invest up to Rs 1 lakh crore in the Northeast over the next 10 years. Today I am very proud to share that work has already started in Assam with an investment of about Rs 80,000 crore.”
He further said that creating job opportunities and involving local people is a key part of the group's investment strategy. The upcoming Rs 48,000 crore thermal power project, which will have a capacity of 3,200 MW, is expected to become the largest power generating project in the North-East.
Jeet Adani said, “We have already done 4 to 5 job drives here and 4,500 local youth of Assam have been hired. Adani Group's business in Assam will generate about 40,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people here.”
He further said, “This is just the beginning. As we move forward in Assam, opportunities for the local youth will also increase. Our aim is to ensure that more and more local talent becomes an active part of this development journey.”
