Sanjay Raut threatens to bring impeachment motion against Gyanesh Kumar!

On Thursday, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission of India and targeted Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. He alleged that they were working as 'agents of the central government' and running the Election Commission like a 'mafia organisation'.

Raut announced that the opposition would bring impeachment motions against Gyanesh Kumar in both houses of Parliament and demanded that he be booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).

Expressing anger over the recent 'unilateral' changes made in Voter Registration Form 6, Raut questioned the motive behind checking the old family roots of citizens.

He alleged, “Gyanesh Kumar has made changes in Form 6 to ask whether the voters' grandfathers and great-grandfathers were alive. We ask them, do you know who your own ancestors were?”

Saying that the CEC has lost the moral right to hold a constitutional post, Raut said, “Gyanesh Kumar is a constitutional mafia who works on the orders of his boss, Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He is the Home Minister's 'Chhota Shakeel'.”

Calling the Election Commission the 'slaughterhouse of democracy', Raut alleged that the recent election victories of the BJP and its allies in Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal were achieved through voter fraud perpetrated by Gyanesh Kumar. He reiterated the joint demand of opposition leaders Uddhav Thackeray, Mamata Banerjee and Tejashwi Yadav to cancel those elections and hold fresh elections.

Describing Gyanesh Kumar and his masters as 'the country's number one enemy', Raut urged all opposition parties to take to the streets and stop the organized vote-stealing racket which he termed as such.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray had demanded the immediate arrest of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

He accused Gyanesh Kumar of destroying democracy and acting as a 'gang leader' who created divisions among political parties at the behest of the central government. He also demanded cancellation of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal assembly elections and holding fresh elections.

“The internal investigation by Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu has exposed how arbitrary this administration was,” Thackeray said. Praising the commissioners for showing courage, he said, “The media and the public must overcome fear. When a gang of political bandits is openly murdering democracy, the citizens and the press must come forward to protect the Constitution.”

He said, “Today, the real face of Gyanesh Kumar has been exposed before the country. He is the main mastermind of the gang that breaks political parties, steals party names and murders democracy. He should be immediately sent to jail.”
