In view of the drought like situation created due to less rainfall in Maharashtra, the state government has taken a big step. The government has given instructions to speed up the work of Panchnama and survey in the affected areas. Agriculture Commissionerate has sent a letter to all the District Magistrates on October 5. It has been said in the letter that in the 265 taluks where Trigger-1 is applicable, 100 percent crop panchnama should be completed immediately.
As per the instructions of the government, Panchnama will be done both physically and digitally in these 265 taluks. Along with taking the signatures of the concerned farmers, these Panchnamas will also have to be made public at the level of Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Samiti.
Apart from the 265 talukas in the Trigger-1 list, the severity of drought in 19 other talukas will also be assessed. In these 19 talukas, 20 percent survey and ground investigation of major 5 crops has been asked. The report of this survey will be prepared and placed before the Cabinet Subcommittee through the Agriculture Commissionerate.
According to the addendum issued along with the government letter, a total of 19 talukas of 8 districts have been included for additional survey. These include Nanded, Chandrapur, Gondia, Wardha, Bhandara, Nashik, Satara and Sangli districts.
These include Mudkhed, Mukhed and Ardhapur of Nanded district, Jivati, Brahmpuri and Ballarpur of Chandrapur, Amgaon, Deori, Salekasa and Gondia of Gondia district, Karanja of Wardha district, Mohadi and Tumsar of Bhandara district, Trimbakeshwar, Chandwad and Niphad of Nashik district, Patan of Satara district and Shirala and Walwa taluk of Sangli district.
