Shri Sanjay Khare Has Assumed The Office Of Principal Chief Engineer Central Railway

Shri Sanjay Khare took over as Principal Chief Engineer of Central Railway on 1 October 2026. He succeeds Shri Rajneesh Mathur, who retires on 30 September 2026. Before assuming charge, Shri Khare was working as Chief Track Engineer in Western Railways.

Shri Sanjay Khare, a 1991 batch officer of the Indian Railway Engineering Service (IRSE), holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Apart from this he has obtained Diploma in Water Resources from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

During his work experience of about 32 years in Railways, he has held responsibilities on various important posts. He served as Assistant Divisional Engineer in Renukoot and Ahmednagar. As Executive Engineer and Deputy Chief Engineer, he played an important role in many important construction projects of Central Railway.

These projects include important projects like Panvel-Karjat New Railway Line, Latur-Miraj Gauge Conversion and Amravati-Narkhed New Railway Line.

Shri Khare has also served as Senior Divisional Engineer in Solapur and Nagpur Divisions of Central Railway. Apart from this, he has also held the responsibility of Senior Professor (Works) at the Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN), Pune.

He has wide experience in construction works, management and general administration of Railways. His experience and technical expertise is expected to provide significant support to Central Railway in meeting various challenging projects and set targets.
