Four storey building collapsed in Seemapuri, Delhi

Exactly a month after a five-storey building housing a PG in South Delhi's Satya Niketan collapsed and killed seven people, a four-storey building collapsed in Northeast Delhi's Seemapuri area on Wednesday (October 7). Many people are feared trapped under the debris of the building after the accident. As soon as the information was received, rescue teams reached the spot and work is going on to remove the debris and find the trapped people.

According to Delhi Fire Service (DFS), a call regarding the incident was received around 3:15 pm. Four fire engines were immediately sent to the spot in Seemapuri, where rescue operations have been started. DFS further said that the front part of the building has collapsed. Teams are conducting search and rescue operations to find out if anyone is trapped inside the damaged building.

After the building collapse, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic alert, stating that traffic has been affected at Seemapuri Roundabout, DLF Bhopura and nearby roads. Traffic police said rescue teams are working at the spot and have appealed to commuters to avoid the area if possible. He has also appealed to the people not to stop, park or crowd near the incident site and follow the instructions given by the traffic police.

Seven people died in Satya Niketan accident

This latest incident comes less than a month after the deadly building collapse that took place in Delhi's Satya Niketan area on September 6, in which seven people were killed and five were injured when a five-storey paying guest house collapsed. The Satya Niketan accident had raised serious concerns over the safety of buildings, unauthorized construction and structural inspection in densely populated areas of the capital.
