Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences by speaking to Nana Patekar's son Malhar Patekar over phone. He expressed condolences to the family and assured all possible help. The Chief Minister also informed the family that the state government is preparing to conduct the actor's last rites with state honours.

Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar said that the decision to give state honor to Nana Patekar has been taken in view of his significant contribution to Marathi theater as well as Marathi and Hindi cinema. He said that Nana Patekar was not just an actor but also a person who raised his voice on issues of different sections of the society. He expressed his frank opinions on subjects ranging from farmers to soldiers.
