Earthquake tremors were felt in Palghar district of Maharashtra on Thursday evening. National Center for Seismology (NCS) gave this information by posting on 'X'. According to this, the intensity of the earthquake was measured at 3.7 on the Richter scale, which falls in the category of low intensity.
According to NCS, the time of the earthquake was 7:16 minutes 20 seconds (IST) on October 8. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at latitude 20.109 and longitude 72.948. Its depth from the ground has been recorded as 7 kilometers. According to the agency, the location of the earthquake was 88 kilometers west of Nashik (Maharashtra).
Earthquake tremors were felt in Palghar as well as some surrounding areas. Due to low intensity, there is no news of any loss of life or property. The local administration has also said that the situation is normal.
According to experts, an earthquake of 3 to 4 intensity is considered a mild earthquake, which usually does not cause much damage, but tremors can be felt. This area of ​​Maharashtra falls in Seismic Zone 3, where there is a possibility of earthquake of medium intensity.
Light earthquake tremors have been felt several times in the last few months in Maharashtra. Even before this, seismic activities were recorded in Palghar and Nashik belt. The National Center for Seismology is continuously monitoring seismic activities and has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumours.
