Trump who imposed tariff on India will now buy diesel from Russia

US President Donald Trump, after talking to Russian President Vladimir Putin, has announced that Russia will supply diesel to the US and global markets. Trump said that this decision was taken to control the rising fuel prices in the US. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized this decision, saying that this decision will give Russia financial strength for the war against Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump, who had imposed extra tariffs on countries like India for buying crude oil from Russia, is now importing diesel from the same Russia to stop the rising fuel prices in his country. His first objection was that if India buys oil from Russia, it gives Moscow financial strength for war; But isn't it hypocrisy in Trump's policy to join hands with Russia whenever America needs fuel? In particular, the US's economic gains are important to avoid fuel price shocks ahead of the midterm elections on November 3; So how is India wrong in protecting its energy needs and economic benefits? Trump's conscious decision that it is possible to buy diesel from Russia for his needs and that buying Indian oil is the reason for imposing punitive tariffs is now revealing the opposite aspects of his role.

According to the information given in a post by Trump on social media, Russia will immediately supply more than 3 lakh metric tons of diesel. After that, he said that another 5 lakh metric tonnes of diesel will be supplied in November and then 1 million metric tonnes of diesel will be supplied. Trump has expressed the possibility of increasing the supply in the future also. Trump has cited rising fuel prices in America as the reason for this decision. He has said that his priority is to provide fuel at affordable prices to farmers, cattle herders and the freight sector.

After Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022, the US had imposed restrictions on Moscow's energy trade. The purpose of these sanctions was to stop Russia's oil and fuel revenue and to prevent it from getting funds for the war. However, now the US Treasury Department has announced permission for the supply of diesel for some time. Due to this, restrictions on some supplies of Russian diesel will be relaxed. In view of rising fuel prices and global supply problems, this is being considered a major change in US policy.

Zelensky has expressed strong displeasure over the decision to buy diesel from Russia. According to him, if Russia gets extra revenue from the sale of fuel, it can be used to continue the war against Ukraine. Zelensky called the decision an investment in a war that needs to end. He also said that giving financial benefits to Putin will not bring peace. Zelensky expressed anger that the announcement came while the Ukrainian delegation to the US was discussing possible ways to end the war.
