Supriya Sule expressed concern over the arrest, demanded her release from the Centre!

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule has expressed concern over the arrest of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka and sending them to Tihar Jail. He demanded the intervention of the Union Home Ministry to ensure the immediate release of both the leaders.

He said that the right to peaceful protest should be protected by rising above political differences. Dissent is an important part of democracy and every Indian should have the freedom to raise his voice without fear.

This statement has come at a time when CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were sent to judicial custody for five days on Wednesday in the Jantar Mantar encroachment case. According to the information, Saurav Das has been kept in Tihar Jail No. 2 and Ashutosh Ranka in Jail No. 4. At the same time, Ajinkya Shinde, arrested in the same case, was released on personal bond.

Advocate Abhisht Hela, appearing on behalf of CJP leaders, said that the court has sent Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to judicial custody for five days. He claimed that the order was passed without adequate judicial consideration and the Supreme Court guidelines were ignored.

The advocate alleged that the authorities had taken action only on the basis of apprehensions. He said that the court accepted that the accused could do something and on this basis they were sent to jail for five days. Describing it as unfortunate, he said that it is worrying that people are being sent to jail for raising slogans of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and waving the tricolor.

According to police, Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ajinkya Shinde were detained on Tuesday morning for crossing police barricades and entering the restricted area at Jantar Mantar. The three leaders were going to protest against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Review (SIR) campaign of the Election Commission. During this, he also raised slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Delhi Police has recently issued new guidelines removing Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest sites. Under this, now Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground of East Delhi have been made designated places for the demonstration.
